We have have a lot of people to thank...

Tusk Trust, both in the U.K. USA for the fantastic support they have given to us over the last year.

Through Tusk we were given a donation for Instruction and Specialised Instruction in the teaching department of 12 thousand pounds for the first year, 2005/2006.

In 2006 Tusk facilitated a very generous donation from American Express for 32,000 dollars for Instruction for the second intake of students.

Tusk continues to support the school with Instruction grants and in 2007 have pledged 15000 pounds sterling towards instruction for 2008/2009.

Roger Oliver of LONDON LINEN who through Campfire Conservation in Kenya very generously donated two 50,000 litre concrete rain water tanks for the school in 2005. Construction of these tanks was organised by Campfire Conservation on behalf of Roger Oliver. Koiyaki also had generous funding from both the Macdonald and Curley families over the years for water catchment tanks, towards a computer study room, tentage for field trips and towards school transportation.

Koiyaki Guiding School would like to also thank the EUROPEAN UNION for their initial support for capital costs for the building of the Guiding School in 2005/2006 through their Community Development Trust fund and for the Koiyaki Wilderness Camp 2007/2008 through their Tourism Trust Fund. The Wilderness Camp will primarily cater to the Educational tourism sector .

Other sponsors have very generously given us bursaries to enable young Maasai men and women to train as guides, particularly to fill a needy gap in the Maasai Mara where they have been disenfranchised in the past from the lucrative guiding jobs in tourism industry.

Aardvark Safaris and Safari Consultants have been the leading UK based safari consultants to support the Koiyaki Guiding School consistently since it started. In the USA Uncharted Outposts and Safari Experts and Anne Kent Taylor International have been a great support over the years.

Binoculars have kindly been donated by Mr. John Loveland every year, who has been one of our greatest individual supporters of this project. John also arranged for the donation of a laptop computer for the school.

John Spence, director of Aardvark Safaris, took part in a sponsored cycle, Mount Kenya Mountain Bike challenge to raise money for the guiding school along with friends and raised a generous donation for the school.

Safari Consultants of the U.K. have also been one of our most generous sponsors, donating subscriptions to several publications and generously sponsoring our first girl student, Betty Mutai in 2005. Betty is now employed at Ol Seki Mara Camp as one of their senior guides.

The Lakeside Foundation of the United States through their facilitator Howard Saunders, funded 10 bursaries for the initial two intakes.

Base Camp Explorer quarantee 30% of the school budget through a licence agreement with the community and Base Camp Foundation take over from Ron Beaton as the schools consultant and Ron Beaton becomes the school patron. Base Camp Foundation continue to support all facets of the school and provide two bursaries yearly.

Rekero Conservation has been the leading sponsor of bursaries having donated or facilitated 17 bursaries since the school started.

The Rekero Camp and Kicheche Camps guides are great ambassadors for the Koiyaki Guiding School as well as being the ultimate role models for the students.

Ol Seki Mara Camp , Kicheche Camps , Gamewatchers and Saruni Camp have all supported the school with bursaries and placements.

Ol Seki Mara Camp in addition to general support and bursaries have donated 10 dollars for every bed night through their camp. The accumilation of these bed nt donations have been a tremendous support to the general school budget.

Tony and Maude Inder Reiden together with the Macdonald and Curley families have yearly given the school funds for capital items essential to the success of the school. Many other smaller operators have helped with bursaries where they were able. Many other visitors to the Mara have helped sponsor students.
