Funding

Between 23 and 25 students are admitted annually for the 1-year Field Guiding Course as a first step to becoming professional safari guides and sponsorship of these students helps to cover approximately 40% of the School budget.

A full bursary is USD2000 which covers tuition, board and lodging, external examination fees and field trips as well as transport for student placements outside the geographical area of the Mara.

A further 50% is generated from the community owned Koiyaki Wilderness Camp, which is franchised to a commercial operator – currently Base Camp Explorer hold this franchise.

The balance is generated from individual donors mainly to cover the expansion of the Outreach Programme which is now funded through the School budget.
